“Never get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life”
My word for 2015 was “Inspire”. I am pretty sure that I hit that nail on the head! Not only did I find countless examples of inspiration, but I also did my best to inspire others. My 2015 was FILLED with inspiration.
Now as we move into 2016, I’ve thought long and hard about what I want my word for the year to be. I’ve literally sat on this thought for about a week now. Then it finally hit me; BALANCE. For far too long now, I have felt SO incredibly out of balance. I’ve got so many great things going on in my life, but I’m neglecting other things that also need to be a priority. So, it’s time I finally put on my big girl panties, and begin to put all of these amazing pieces of my life back together to create a solid whole.
We (Eric and I) have got some g r e a t things going for us. We have great jobs, I completed (that’s right – COMPLETED) yoga teacher training. So now I have this amazing side gig going for me. We have two handsome puppies. A home. A car. But there are literally too many fires lit, and it’s time we start putting those out and add balance back into the act that is our everyday life. We are so busy making a living and going through the motions of life, that we aren’t really living.
It’s time I not only get the house back into order, but I de-clutter and remove the materialistic things within my life that are simply just taking up space. Things I’m too afraid to let go of. Space that I’m too afraid to free up.
It’s time to starting putting more effort into small minor things that need to be fixed or repaired.
It’s time to start getting Cooper’s issues taken care of so that we aren’t stuck at home constantly because we have no sitter for a dog.
It’s time we start putting more effort into our relationship. I want to begin dating my husband again. What happened to that? Why did that stop? Just because we’re both busy trying to support each other doesn’t mean we can completely neglect each other. It’s time to bring back date night! Even if it’s once a month. I actually started this off by giving Eric a few gift cards for a couple of our favorite places this Christmas. This way, we literally have no excuse (aside the dog… which we’re working on; remember?). This doesn’t have to include friends. But once in a while that would be nice. I miss drunken game nights of debauchery.
It’s time I start a schedule for my yoga, and to put more effort into planning classes, and my yoga work. Even if this means I take a few hours a day and force myself to go to Starbucks… Okay fine, I’ll re-word that since we ALL know I never have to be forced to go to Starbucks lol.
Even if this means I force myself to make time to go to a place (whether it’s Starbucks or not) where I can’t be distracted by the things at home like the TV, the dogs and other things that need to be done around the house.
It’s time to start living healthier and making better choices.
It’s time to begin adding balance back into our lives and enjoying every single minute of it.
